July 31, 2007

During our morning walk with Auntie Michele, we stopped off at the fitness course at KCC. Here's Gianna getting in her workout, too!

She's practicing her squats! :)
When we got back home, Papa was up. He thought it was funny that we were dressed alike, so he took this picture of us.

Today is Grandma's birthday, so we went to dinner at the Pacific Club. I ordered Gianna macaroni and cheese. It seemed like it was Kraft mac & cheese. She loved it!

But I was a bit concerned, because mac & cheese from the box is so far from "real" food.

I've got to practice making homemade mac & cheese.

July 28, 2007

This morning Gianna decided to explore the kitchen. She kept crawling over to the doorway between the living room and the kitchen. It looked like she just wanted to practice standing.

I thought it what really funny to see her go up and down, so I started taking pictures.

Here she is trying to get me to stop.

She was fascinated with the holes in the closet doors.

When Papa got up, he told me about a football camp for women at CAL. I responded with this pose.
In the evening Gigi, Grandpa, and I went to the bon dance. It was a little different. We only stayed for a little while. Gianna was tired.

July 27, 2007

Today we went to Wee Play in the morning. Gianna had a great time as usual. When we got home, Gigi took a nap. For lunch, Gianna shared some of my baked organic chicken and rice. I was really surprised, because I didn't have to puree it. The chicken was very moist and soft, so I just shredded it with my fork and cut it up into tiny pieces and served it with a little bit of rice. Gianna thought it was great to be eating "mama's food".

After lunch we drove out to Wahiawa to spend time with Grandpa. Grandma is in Las Vegas until Monday. Gigi fell asleep during the drive over, so when we arrived in Wahiawa, I got the chance to vacuum the living room and kitchen, as well as to mop the kitchen floor! I even washed the rug in the kitchen with Tide and Oxyclean. I wiped down all of the surfaces the Gigi could reach, so the kitchen is now okay for Gigi to explore.

In the evening, Gianna and I got dressed to go to the Bon Dance in Wahiawa, but it poured! We didn't even make it out of the door. Hopefully the weather will be nicer tomorrow.

Gigi fell asleep quickly in her co-sleeper! :)

Today we met with our architect. Gianna occupied herself by watching her Baby Can Read dvd's while we talked to our architect.

Happy 10-month birthday to Gianna!

Papa had the day off, so we all went to CPK at Kahala Mall for a birthday lunch for Gigi. I had packed some lamb shank with orzo, and I had mixed it with some fusilli and tomato sauce from the restaurant.

Our waitress gave Gianna a coloring book and crayons,

but Gigi just wanted to eat the crayons rather than color with them.

Papa told me not to worry since they were non-toxic.

After lunch we went to the theater to watch the Transformers movie.

Here's Gianna watching the movie. She had her own seat with a little booster seat to give her some height.

Gigi did pretty well. Halfway through the movie, she wanted to take a nap, so I carried her in the back of the theater and rocked her to sleep. I got to see the whole movie, but my arms were REALLY sore!

July 21, 2007

We slept over in Wahiawa last night, but we got up bright and early to head over to Wee Play again. This time Grandma came with us to see the beautiful facility.

Gianna started to climb on this item, but she became fascinated with the pictures on the wall.

Here she is getting a closer look. I hope she's focusing on the ballerina. ;)

Gigi climbed to the top of another item and got to play with this huge octopus.

Here she is with Grandma.

Gianna loved this tunnel. She kept crawling back and forth from end to end.

It's bubble time again.

She's now under the parachute. It think she's crawling toward Grandma.

In the evening, we got ready to go to the obon festival in Haleiwa. Yesterday, we went to Shirokiya to buy some accessories. We saw cousins Chelsea and Catherine there.

Although it was raining, Auntie Wendy was still able to take this picture of us. She also joined us when we went dancing. Unfortunately, Gianna lost one of her hair decorations during all of the spinning around.

Here's Gigi with Grandma. Although it was a late night for Gigi, she was a complete angel. She even fell asleep while we were dancing! By the way, Gianna is wearing the kimono that Grandma Jane brought back from Japan.

July 20, 2007

Today Gianna and I checked out Wee Play & Learn in Hawaii Kai. We both thought it was a wonderful place. We met the Mary, the owner, and her daughter Georgina. Here's Gianna shaking her maracas during the opening march. :)

Then the balls were brought out...

Gianna had a ball. ;)

During the free play time, Gianna went exploring. She's become a very good climber. Here she is showing off her skills.

Gianna even climbed into the ball pit!

Here she is on the train. She climbed up the ramp in the back and had fun in the main cabin.

We came back to the circle for bubble time. That's Georgina in the background.

Now Gianna is gazing at the parachute floating above her.

After her afternoon nap, we went to Uncle Robin's house for a pau hana. Gianna LOVED Uncle Joe. She kept flirting with him.

Then we headed out to Wahiawa for a weekend with Grandma and Grandpa. Papa had sent a high chair to Wahiawa, and I assembled it. Here's Gigi in her new chair. Grandma LOVES it! Gianna is at the same height as the kitchen table. It's perfect!

July 16, 2007

Today we went to Auntie Kay's house to play. There we met Isabella, who is 5 days older than Gianna. Yet, Gigi was almost 3 inches taller than Isabella! Crazy!

Here's Isabella and Gigi playing with the "toys" Auntie Kay brought out for them. Gianna was there before Isabella, so she was displaying a little bit of dominance. She kept taking things away for Isabella. This is the first time I've seen her do this. Ususally, Gigi is the smaller child and gets things taken from her.

Uh oh! Here's mischievous Gigi getting ready to do something naughty! Her hand is up and ready...

to "thwack". Gigi swatted Isabella in the face! Yikes!

Thank goodness Isabella is a tough baby. Here is Gianna putting on her "innocent" face while I scold her.

Uncle Hiroshi came home from summer school and played with the babies. I think Isabella has a crush on him.

Here they are crawling around the kitchen.

NEWS FLASH! Gianna actually clapped today! She was clapping a lot at Auntie Kay's home. Here's the two babies clapping together.

After Isabella left, Gianna took a nap, while Kay, Hiroshi, and I had lunch. She woke up while we were watching High School Musical. Uncle Hiroshi had the sing-a-long version. How fun! Then Auntie Kay brought out this tin can for Gianna to play with, and she loved it!
When we got home, Gianna had some milk. She played for a bit, then she was asleep by 6:15 PM!

July 15, 2007

Here's our Snow White-in-training.

Gianna went through my grocery bags and pulled out this apple that I was going to use in one of her baby food receipes. She tried to take a bite out of it. There are teeth marks on the skin!

Today was a major cooking day. I had to replenish the freezer supply. I made applesauce and pears in the morning. Then Grandma and Grandpa came over, and Grandma pureed some mangoes and watermelon for Gigi.

In the evening, I made her a meat bolognese sauce and polenta. She really liked it! Yeah! The unfortunate thing is I overcooked the roast I made for dinner. Papa was a good sport, though. He ate it without any complaints. I also made some tapioca pudding for dessert, because I remembered that Gianna liked the tapioca dessert at The Kahala. But Papa reminded me that the sugar might get her all hyped up again. What was I thinking!

July 12, 2007

This afternoon, we went to Auntie Maile's house to play with Connor and Halle. Here's Gianna enjoying one of their toys. She chewed on EVERYTHING!

While Connor and Gigi played with various toys, Halle was keeping Papa busy. Here's Gianna trying to get in on the action.

It must have been too much for Gianna. She turned her attention back to Connor. She really likes to be near him.

Halle had Papa pinned down, so he called for Gianna to help him. Here she is coming to his rescue.

After helping out Papa, Gianna went back to play with Connor.

We all had a fun time!
