October 29, 2006

So much has happened since the last post. Sid and I took Gianna to her one month doctor's appointment last Wednesday. She was 8 lbs. 4 oz. and 22.25 in. Dr. Yano said she was at 25% for her weight and 75% for her height. I told him that she eats ALL the time, and he said that I needed to let her eat as much as possible. So I'm continuing to supplement with formula.

Other news is that I took Gianna out for her first walk in the stroller with Maile and Connor. It was an ordeal to just get to Triangle Park, but we made it. We were able to do three laps which is about one mile, before Gianna let me know it was time to go. The culprit was a dirty diaper.

Then today, I was able to put Gianna into the Baby Bjorn. That carrier is very well made. I am so impressed by it. She fell asleep while I had her in there. I was able to transfer her into her bassinet while she slept, but she soon woke up with a case of the hiccups.

October 22, 2206

Today Gianna is one month old. The big news is that she finally has the desired mustard-colored poo. It's only 1:30 PM, but she's already had a couple of good poos.

Mom came over and brought breakfast for Sid and me. She's holding sleeping Baby G for her second nap. I was able to color my hair this morning. Note to self...leave hair coloring to the professionals. It was extremely messy and difficult to do.

October 20, 2006

Last night Gianna slept a solid 4 hours! Things are going pretty well with the extra formula supplements by cup. She seems to sleep well on a full stomach. (The picture below is from the hospital, when Gigi was one day old.)

Today, mom came over so that I could get a little R&R with a manicure from Barbara. Unfortunately, I've already scuffed two nails since I rushed out of the salon to get lunch and to return home quickly. Oh well...at least the other eight nails look good. While I was gone, mom said that Baby G slept well.

She also had a good two hour nap this afternoon. It's now 6:00 PM, and she is just starting to wake up. Before I go, I just want to note that Asa and Cyd also came to visit today. They brought dinner and baby gifts, a cute lamp and nightlight. Well, I've got to go and take care of Gianna.

October 19, 2006

Last night Gianna and I fell asleep on the couch. Sid had a night full of Burgundy with Mark and Mirella, and he crashed on the bed. I didn't want Baby G to wake him, so I took her to the living room to feed and soothe her around midnight. The next thing I remember is that it was 5:30 AM! I felt well rested, but my body was uncomfortable.

Gianna has been a really good girl today. Eating well and sleeping well. I know I should have rested during her nap this afternoon, but I had tons of ironing and folding to do. I made a little dent in the pile, but Gigi woke before I could get to Sid's shirts. I felt really bad earlier, because Sid went to work in a WRINKLED shirt today.

It's now 8:00 PM, and Gianna got her bath. I was even able to shower while she was in her crib watching her mobile. She is currently sleeping next to me on the couch now. This has been a good day. I hope it continues to be a good night.

October 17, 2006

Here is Baby Gianna. She is almost a month old, and I have just begun to start a journal about her.

During her first week home, Gigi slept alot!!! I had to wake her up in order to nurse her. She would sleep for hours. Unfortunately, she lost some weight, so I had to feed her more frequently.

Hopefully she has put on some weight by now. She is eating quite often, and she's hardly sleeping anymore. She tends to take catnaps instead of sleeping for hours on end. Gigi also likes to sleep in my arms! When I try to lay her down in her bassinet, she quickly wakes up. What to do?
