Here's Gianna being entertained by Grandma Jane in the morning at Grandma & Grandpa's house.

After breakfast, Gigi decided to play by the exersaucer, but she ended up crawling underneath it.

Unfortunately Gianna got stuck under the exersaucer. She couldn't figure out how to get out because she kept bumping her head. She could sit upright only where she'd normally be standing. She started to cry, so both Grandma and I had to get her out.

Then we went home to get ready to see Papa who comes home from the mainland today. :)!

Today, Gianna, Grandma, and I went to town so that I could tutor a student. We went to Diamond Head Market to buy lunch, and a young man who worked there gave Gigi the parrot sticker she is proudly showing off.

We went back to Wahiawa in the afternoon. Here's Gigi pulling herself up using Grandpa's table as support.

Today we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to stay with them while Papa is on his trip.

Grandma came over to visit us today, and we all went to see the Punahou Dance School's performance of The Little Mermaid. Gianna was such a good baby! She behaved so well throughout the almost 3 HOUR performance!

Gianna is 7 months old today! How time flies!

She didn't sleep well last night. Her coughing wakes her up. She went to bed at 8 PM, then she woke up at 1 AM. We played with Papa till about 2 AM, then she slept till 7:30 AM. I tutored again this morning, and when I got home, this is what I saw...

Papa and Gigi had fallen asleep together. I don't think Papa got much sleep either.

In the afternoon, Gigi practiced standing up. She uses her bean bag to help herself up.

Today was the date of Mirella's monthly playdate with Kristine & Ava and Diana & Emily. Unfortunately, I had to call and cancel. I am definitely sick. :( Gigi is also coughing a lot, and she has a lot of congestion in her chest. :( I didn't want anyone else to catch this cold, so we both stayed home.

In the morning, I went to tutor a student while Papa babysat. He said everything went really well. When I came home, Gianna was napping.

Since we were staying in, I made Gigi a salmon dish. The receipe called for salmon, a sweet potato, some cheddar cheese, a little bit of milk, some fresh squeezed orange juice, and a pat of butter. I tasted it after it was pureed, and it tasted like a salmon patty. Gigi ate it all up!

I also baked a butternut squash; pureed it; and fed some to Gigi for her dinner.
We stayed in and played. Here's Gigi with her drum.

In the evening, Auntie Mirella came by to drop off some lasagne and dessert. She leaves tomorrow for Italy.

Ugh! I think I'm sick. My throat REALLY hurts! I've taken tons of Airborne, but it's not working this time. At least my eye feels a lot better.

Gianna had a rough night last night. Although she fell asleep rather easily, she woke up around 2 AM and cried and cried despite my efforts to soothe her. I have no idea when she finally nodded off to sleep, because I had to take my contacts out. I got an eye infection!

Thank goodness Sid could call in a prescription for me. Gianna and I went to Longs to pick it up. We did a quick stroll through the mall, and then we came home. She is really coughing, and I know she feels bad. We're staying in today, and I'm just trying to make her as comfortable as possible.

We had a WONDERFUL dinner with Grandaunt Amy and Granduncle John who flew in from the Big Island to see Gigi. Auntie Amy made arrangements at Stage, a new restaurant.

Gianna was fever-free today, but she is still sick. Her cold is moving into her chest, and she is coughing now. We stayed in today, and she took two long naps.

Today was Auntie Susy's last day with us. Auntie Sooz was pretending to be asleep, so Gianna went to work...

Gigi started crawling over to her to wake Auntie Sooz up.

Then Gigi decided to pull Auntie's hair. Ouch!

When Gigi finally got a reaction from Auntie Sooz, she tried to make a fast getaway!

After Gianna got Auntie Susy moving, we went to The Kahala for breakfast. Papa joined us and we all had a nice meal, because Gigi fell asleep in the bassinet. :)

In the afternoon, Papa took Auntie Sooz to the airport, while Gigi and I stayed home. Gianna was so tired that she fell asleep while I was reading her a story...The Greedy Zebra. She slept for over two hours!

NOTE: I really miss Susy. :( She was so wonderful with Gianna. I hope she comes back to visit again soon!

I'm SOOO tired. Do you see the pillows in the background? Gigi and I slept in the living room...on the floor! She was so unhappy last night. She couldn't fall asleep. Although she was really good at the restaurant, when we got home, she was the Cranky Monster. I carried her from midnight till 2 AM! She fell asleep in my arms, and then I lied down and gently place her beside me. Of course, she's all smiles in the picture, but she woke up with a really bad fever. She was super HOT!

Anyway, I had her just in diapers for most of the day. She's smiling because Auntie Sooz is an AWESOME entertainer. We had the 80's music channel playing all day, and Auntie Sooz decided to give Gianna an 80's retro look...ala Loverboy.

Auntie Sooz, Gigi, and I went to go to dim sum this morning. And we also strolled the mall for a little while until Gigi got fussy.

Poor Gigi is really sick. She had a fever today. All she wanted was TLC. She fell asleep in my arms and slept there for over two hours! This hasn't happened since she turned 3 months old! It was such a wonderful feeling to have her asleep in my arms again!

When Papa got home, we just went to the Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood. We brought the bassinet so Gigi could sleep or play. It worked really well! The Bugaboo is awesome. Did I already mention that it was a gift from Aunite Sooz?

Last night Papa & I went to Dazzle 2007...a fundraiser for CUPS. Grandma and Auntie Sooz babysat Gianna.

Although she looks happy here with Auntie Sooz, Gianna definitely caught a cold. She woke up with a stuffy nose and an unhappy disposition. :(

We didn't go to stroller strides, yoga, or to Gymboree. Instead, we went to the market to make gnocchi for dinner.

Auntie Sooz took some photos while Gianna took her bath today. This was Auntie's "hairstyle" idea...the Mohawk.

Today Auntie Susy came to visit us all the way from Arizona! Gianna and I picked her up at noon, then we all ran errands together. Auntie Susy played with Gigi while I tutored at Punahou. Gigi was pretty good. I actually got some real tutoring done.

We also went to the market to make braised beef for Gianna's dinner. I also had to cook for Kumadog, because all the food that Grandma cooked for Kumadog was gone! :0 Thank goodness Grandma and Grandpa come home tomorrow.

Anyway, Papa and Auntie Sooz got to go to a DELICIOUS wine tasting at Vino, while I stayed home with the baby. Although Gigi looks upset in this picture (because she is), I was so proud of her. She was able to stand up all by herself, except she didn't know how to get out of the standing position.

I also want to note that Papa is WONDERFUL! He went to Wahiawa tonight to take care of Kumadog, so I could catch up with Auntie Sooz. :)

Today Gianna ate my homemade, organic chicken, sweet potato, and pea puree. Making it was quite labor intensive, especially since I had to make it twice! I forgot the first batch in Wahiawa on the telephone counter! ARGH!

Gigi ate it all up! It had a nice flavor to it. I also gave her some applesauce which she ate up. I'm getting good at making the applesauce and pears. Then, I opened up a jar of organic green beans and rice. She did NOT like it at all. Here is her "green bean" face. I have to admit. It was not very tasty. I ended up dumping it down the drain.

When we got back to Wahiawa, we walked Kumadog and I remembered to bring the camera. Here's Gianna holding the leash.

Note: Gianna is a very good crawler now. I took her to Gymboree in Kaimuki today. She had a nice time there.

Happy Easter! The cute ducky is from Auntie Mirella. Gianna is also wearing a beautiful dress from Auntie Cheryl who sent it from CA. I'll have to take better pictures of her in the dress. It is too precious!

Oh my goodness! Thank goodness for pillows and bean bags! Here is Gianna hanging off the BED! She got caught up in one of the pillows and below that is her bean bag chair that I piled some clothes on. She took a really long nap today. I put her down on the bed, because Papa was going to lower the crib. I kept checking on her, and this is what I found on the my last nap check. CRAZY!

This morning, Gianna wanted to try and feed herself. Her fingers were all in her food, so I decided to just give her the spoon. Here she is...self-feeding Gigi.
Boy! What a day it has been! Thank goodness Papa came to Wahiawa. He gave me the TLC I needed. In the morning, after breakfast, I found out that yoga was cancelled due to Good Friday. I should have checked the night before, but I didn't. Anyway, we didn't go to Stroller Strides, because we had planned on going to Mom & Baby Yoga in Waialua. That was just the beginning of one of the roughest days I've had with Gianna so far.

She was unusally cranky and grumpy all day! She cried so much today. Now I realize how some mothers can feel overwhelmed with a baby. It is nerve-racking to hear a baby cry so much. The worst thing was that I couldn't soothe her. I'd carry her, sing to her, tickle her, etc., but she was just an unhappy camper!

Finally, around noon, I gaver her some Tylenol. Then she took a nap shortly afterwards. Although I can't really tell, I think she has some teething pains. She keeps shoving things in her mouth. The worst thing was when I used my finger to feel her gums. She bit down on my finger...hard! I screamed, and then she wailed. I think I scared her. It REALLY hurt!

Anyway, I took her on a stroll around the neighborhood, and I even gave her an early bath. It wasn't until Papa's arrival that Gigi perked up. He played with her, and he carried her. He also gave her more Tylenol around midnight when she woke up from her sleep. After that, she slept "like a baby" till 7 AM.

This morning Gianna and I braved the rush hour traffic, and we drove to Hawaii Kai for our Stroller Strides exercise class! I can't believe we made it. I'm glad we finally did. We haven't gone to Stroller Strides since we've been out in Wahiawa. It was a great class. I did lot's of upper body work, especially since Gigi was a bit cranky and wanted to be carried! I've got to remember to bring my Bjorn.

After class we saw Papa at home before he went to work. Gianna's hair is getting so long, that he tried a new hairstyle on her. The red bump on her forehead is a mosquito bite! There are so many mosquitos in Wahiawa. I've got several bites!

When we got back to Wahiawa, I let Gianna play in her Baby Einstein excersaucer. She LOVED it! This was her first time in it. Papa had set it up the other night while we were sleeping.

April 4, 2007

Today was our first music class at Ohana Music. This a picture of us with our teacher, Becky. Gianna seemed to really enjoy the class. She was the youngest out of all of the children, but she actually did participate. Also, Becky is wonderful! She made us feel very welcome and comfortable.

In the afternoon, I went to tutor a student, and I did NOT bring Gianna. I remembered yesterday's 'Note to self'. Papa watched the baby, but when I came home I found her with tears in her eyes. Papa said he took this picture of her while I was gone. He said that Gigi was crying because she knew that she couldn't drink Papa's wine that arrived today.

I gave Gigi a bath at home, but our baby bathtub is in Wahiawa, so I had to improvise with the kitchen sink. I did scrub the sink down before putting Gianna in it. The sink actually made an excellent tub, especially since Uncle John installed the new KWC facet! It made a perfect shower for Gigi.

Sleeping update: Our regular schedule did not happen for yesterday and today, because we are commuting from Wahiawa. Yesterday, Gianna fell asleep with NO crying, but she did go to bed late. Today, she cried for a little bit when I was finally able to put her in her crib around 8 PM. My plan is to stay in Wahiawa till Saturday. Hopefully for Thursday and Friday nights, Gigi will be able to be on a better schedule.

Hooray! Papa came to visit us in Wahiawa today. It was a good thing, because Kumadog needed some TLC. I gave her a much needed bath today, and I took her on two walks with the Gianna. I've got to remember to bring the camera so I can take pictures.

Gianna got up really EARLY today...before 6 AM. :o I think she's teething again. She keeps drooling, and she keeps biting my fingers. I think her top teeth are starting to bother her. Luckily, she took a long 2-hour nap in the morning. I was able to nap, too!

In the afternoon, she only took a short 45-min. nap, but with Papa being here, I think she was too excited to sleep. She had a full afternoon of crawling and playing with Papa, so she is now sleeping soundly. :) YEAH!

After her bath, I dressed her in her PJ's and she started to cry. :( I immediately put her in the crib and sang her some lullabies. She only cried for a few minutes, when I had the bright idea to put a pacifier in her mouth. She immediately calmed down, listened to my singing, and closed her eyes as I stroked her hair. She fell right to sleep. Tonight was the best day so far!
