July 4, 2008

Today is the 4th of July! We started our morning off with breakfast in our room. Grandma came over to help Gigi eat her meal.
They had a fun time on the balcony.
We went to shore to visit the Raptor Center, a bird sanctuary.
We needed to take a taxi into town. Luckily, the taxi driver had a booster seat in her car!
The Raptor Center rehabilitates injured birds. Here's one of many bald eagles.
The staff gave us a lecture about what the Center does. Here's another bald eagle that's been injured.

Here's an owl that we got to see up close.
Bears! Oh, my.
Here we are with Grandma exploring the grounds of the Center.
I think Gigi's wingspan is about three feet. :)

We walked from the Raptor Center back to town and came across a fair at a school playground. Gigi immediately headed for the swing.
It looked like so much fun that Grandpa jumped on a swing, too.
Gigi's next stop was the play structure.
She headed for the slide.

After the playground, we went to explore the little fair celebrating Alaska's statehood day.

Gigi went "fishing" for prizes.

Gigi came up a winner!

The next stop was the duck pond.
She traded in her tickets for a little puppy doll.
Walking back to the pier, we came across this totem pole. That's Gigi sitting at the bottom of it.
Here we are with Grandma and Grandpa waiting for our launch back to the ship.
Gigi's safe in Papa's arms.
Story time...Click, Clack, Moo...Cows that Type, a favorite of Gigi's.
