April 14, 2008

Today we went to the Plantation Village in Waipahu with our Field Trip Friends to see and learn about how the plantation workers lived a long time ago.

Here's Gigi checking out a plantation kitchen.

Yes, that's my baby. ;0 She's crawling into an oven!

Look at that smile!

Gigi really liked being in this brick oven. When we left the building, I read the sign. It said the building was a "Tofuya". No wonder Gianna liked this place!

Here's Gigi actually blowing a bubble using a papaya stalk.

This was the best she has ever done at blowing bubbles. What a country girl!

After blowing bubbles, we washed up and I gave Gigi some Cheerios for a snack. She's just kicking back on the steps...enjoying being a kid.

The little ones were give bean bags and hoops. The object of the game was to throw your bag into the hoop, but Gianna preferred taking the bags out of the hoop and throwing them away from the hoop. Adam (in the black T-shirt) must have thought Gigi was crazy.

We went by the taro fields and stopped by the fishpond to feed the fish.

Gianna actually tried to eat the bread herself! She wasn't too happy when I shouted a frantic, "NO!" I didn't pack the bread. Our tour guide provided the bread, and I wasn't sure about its origin. :0

Gigi liked feeding the fish, but her bread pieces didn't make it very far into the pond. Afterwards, we headed over to the train tracks and looked at an old train car. While we were walking around, a little boy in our class came up to Gigi and gave her a ring he found. I asked him if he wanted to give the ring to his mom instead, but he insisted that Gigi have it.

Griffin, you need to come and visit us again soon! ;)
